Arizona Pole Vault Academy offers a 2-day pole vault camp where vaulters of all levels can learn and enjoy. Camp immerses athletes in a hands-on, personalized approach to every aspect of becoming the best pole vaulter they can be.

Eligibility: Typically boys and girls ages 12–18. Exceptions may be made case-by-case.

Pricing & what’s included

  • Commuter — $399: Camp, lunch, and dinner.
  • Overnighter — $599: Camp, all meals, and sleeping accommodations at the Starkey Ranch (up to 10 campers on-site). Due to travel, overnight guests may arrive/stay the day before and after camp if needed.

Spots are first-come, first-served and limited. Register ASAP based on availability.

Schedule highlights

  • Day 1: Camp sessions roughly 9:00am–5:30pm. All campers are encouraged to stay for dinner and games until about 8:00pm.
  • Day 2 (final day): Roughly 9:00am–4:00pm. Full itinerary provided after registration.
  • Check-in before 9:00am on day one (out-of-town overnight guests may check in the day before).

Itinerary may include

Pole vaulting, video analysis, gymnastics, rope swing, weight training, plyometrics, nutrition, rehab/recovery, injury prevention, sport psychology, speed work, progression methodology, round-table discussions, and recreational activities.

Dean Starkey, Garrett Starkey, Nathan Hiett, and Tray Oates — AZPVA’s high-performance coaching staff.

What to bring

Running shoes, track spikes, workout clothes, sweat pants and shirt, swimsuit, and warm/cold-weather casual clothing. Bring your own poles if you prefer — borrowing from AZPVA’s extensive fleet is included at no extra charge.

Out-of-town athletes

Arrange airport transfers (Uber/Lyft). Camp ends at 4:00pm on the final day; overnight guests can arrange an extra night to fit flight schedules if needed.

Refund policy (summary)

  • Once camp has started: no refunds (including injury, illness, or disciplinary dismissal).
  • More than 30 days before camp: full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.
  • Within 30 days of camp: refund minus a $100 late cancellation fee.
  • Within 7 days of camp: no refunds.
